Isaiah
40; Psalm 110
Meditative
Prayer Points:
- Lord,
help me to first come to myself like the prodigal son, i.e. recognise that
myself is no good for You. “In me, (that is in my flesh)
dwelleth no good thing” (Rom 7:18). Give me a
clear revelation of the sinfulness and evil of the human nature that I
inherited from my natural birth. May I stop defending SELF!
- Lord,
please tear off the veil of the sinful nature from me. Expose every hidden
thing of the cancer of sin that is eating into my life without my
knowledge. Help me know that SELF will bring pollution and contamination
to my most sacred labours and make my life sacrifices unacceptable to God
because they have been tainted by self (SIN).
- As You
give me revelation about sin and its evil, help me invest all my heart
into dealing with it so my connection with You is not broken. Don't let me
be laid back and lazy about the matter of sin. Don't let me sweep it under
the carpet but help my heart and my members be ready to distance my life
from sin (self/the flesh).
- Lord,
please inject godly sorrow into me. Let my heart break over the evil of
sin and sinfulness. Let godly sorrow well up in my heart every time the
thought of what brought my Master JESUS to the cruel death of the cross
comes to mind.
- “Until the heart is full of sorrow for sin, it is
not fit for Christ.” (Thomas Watson) Fill my heart
with sorrow for sin that it may be fit for You my Christ.
- Lord,
please let me receive Your comfort in my heart after I have sorrowed for
sin and sinfulness. Let Your comfort overrun the evil consequences of sin
in my life. Let the joy of the Lord fill my heart as a result of Your
comfort in me.
- Thank
You Lord for the grace of REPENTANCE - sorrowing for sin. This
is what brought You from heaven to earth. You sorrowed for my sin.
You died for my sin. Now You are highly exalted because You humbled
Yourself to save me. Baptise me Lord into Your REPENTANCE. I
know You will lift me up. Amen.
